Artist Biography and Statement:  Using primarily oil and acrylic on canvas, my work reflects my desire to explore the materiality of paint as well as evoke the attitude of the varied landscapes I am influenced by. Being born in Vernon BC, and having the opportunity to explore nature and the city within abstract painting has influenced my work greatly.

In Transit by Tatianna O’Donnell

Medium: Oil on canvas

Fair Market Value:  $1,650

Downtown Location: Olive Us

Artist Biography and Statement:  Tatianna O’Donnell has always painted. She studied art at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art as well as at various universities and workshops. Her paintings have always been about line, shape and texture. She now introduces space …the transitional space in between, the space in memories. In our normal every day journey through life, we do not record what is in between. We move swiftly past landscapes, buildings, and people. The Transition series is about what we have missed, what is in between where we have been and where we are going.

Blue Tapestry 2015 by Heidi Thompson

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Fair Market Value:  $4000

Artist Biography and Statement:  I was born in Vernon and studied art in Europe. I am inspired by Nature. I do not paint trees, mountains, lakes or skies; rather I adopt nature’s elements – light, colour, patterns and space to create my own “landscapes”. I strive to make images that inspire joy, peacefulness and mystery. When you look at a painting and feel inspired or happy, I believe the painting is simply mirroring the beauty and depth within you.

A fervent supporter of the Caetani Centre, Valerie is thrilled to be participating in this year’s Splash as an emerging artist alongside many of her mentors, and to offer this piece symbolically in memory of the complex and tangled relationships which defined life for Sveva and her family when they moved to Vernon and lived in the Caetani House.
