About the Artist
Composer, musician, performer and multi-disciplinary artist whose music has taken her around the world!
Music, for me, will always tell a story. I have been writing, recording and performing original material for over 20 years and for the past eight have taken on commissions – crafting songs that capture and shape personal stories through melody and poetry. A multi-instrumentalist, singer and audio engineer, my main focus has been music composition, production and dissemination through live and recorded material. Some themes explored in my work are health and wellness, particle theory, sugar addiction, environmental action, hope, nutrition, sports, bicycle safety, love, and memory.
My artistic practice stems from a combination of formal training and self-taught experimentation spanning several disciplines – music, theatre, videomaking, costume design, and printmaking. I’ve built a body of work and dedicated following through DIY creations (costumes, zines, videos, handmade merchandise), engaging audiences through playful performances and facilitating creative workshops for people of all ages. I often work in cycles of creativity – moving from music to film to poetry to sewing to printmaking to music. While some projects focus solely on one medium, others have multiple components. Each one is unique.
Notable collaborations include composing and producing a mini operetta for interactive public art collective Daily Tous Les Jours’ “Kit Operette,”creating a music video trilogy with filmmaker Kara Blake (for which I provided the soundtrack, created costumes and acted in all three), and cowriting a narrative dance song with DJ Kid Koala for the “Yo Gabba Gabba! Live” tour. I’ve been mask-making since April 2020, sending over 500 masks to those in need and want. Ha Ha
Happiness is my latest music video project featuring masked contributors from around the world and a song collaboration with my musical pandemic pen pal Fran Ashcroft.
Music continues to be the main portal through which I explore my inner world while time travelling on a global scale. Let’s move and be moved! Let’s create and be creative! Let’s sing all things!
