Welcome to the Caetani Centre. We are excited to offer our school field trips for 2022-2023 available from September to June.
We would like to invite your students to explore the secrets and rumours of this 125+ year-old heritage house with an intriguing and disturbing history.
Learn about the fascinating world of this elusive branch of the Caetani family, descendants of Italian royalty, and their intriguing story, available to the public for the first time since the house was donated to the Greater Vernon community in 1994.
Come view the incredible Caetani collection of artwork, artifacts and memorabilia, vintage haute couture Chanel and Vionnet fashions, and Sveva Caetani’s Recapitulation series of 47 large-scale watercolour paintings, family photographs and home movies!
Our field trip program connects students to curricular competencies in Social Studies, Arts Education, English Language Arts, as well as other related disciplinary curricular connections. See https://www.caetani.org/curricular-connections/ for more information.
Students will have the opportunity to hear an intriguing story that includes socio-politics, mental health, artistic pursuits, local Vernon history, and more in a fun and interactive way. A guided tour, and activities such as a scavenger hunt and art project, are included in the field trip.
Transportation is not provided. However, the Caetani Centre is located on lower East Hill, on Pleasant Valley Road, which is within walking distance for many schools. Parking is available on site as well as on neighbouring streets.
The Caetani Centre is now accepting applications for 2022-2023 school field trips available from September to June.
Our hours for school tours are Tuesdays to Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or Fridays 9:30 a.m to noon.
We offer a guided tour that is about 2 hours in total, with time for students to look around and participate in our activities. The tour takes place in the house and gallery, with a short break in the middle.
Due to the configuration of the Caetani house, we can only support classes of up to 30 students (with 5 adults maximum) per visit. The group will be divided in half so they can best experience all the house and gallery have to offer.
The price is $5.00 per student. Teachers, certified educational assistants, and volunteers/chaperones are free.
In the case of a cancellation, our Centre must be notified in writing one week before any change or cancellation of reservation. If changes or cancellations are not communicated at least one week before your program date, a $50 cancellation fee will be charged.
Teachers and parent helpers have an important role to play. We ask for a minimum of 1 volunteer per 10-12 students. We rely on your support to keep the group together during your tour, and to monitor student behaviour.
Currently the Museum is not fully accessible. Should your group have any special needs, please mention them when you make your booking.
Tour materials and additional information will be distributed to teachers via email, prior to their visit.
