Resident & Studio Artists

Caetani Centre is home to a thriving community of local artists who live at the Caetani House as residents, and studio artists who work in studios on site.

  • jaz papadopoulos

    Resident Artist

    jaz papadopoulos (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator who is a writer, and works in video, performance, and installation. Originally from Treaty 1 territory, they currently reside on unceded Syilx lands, where they teach Creative Writing at Okanagan College. They hold an MFA from the University of British Columbia, and is an alumnus of the Lambda Literary and the Carae Open School.

  • Cher Mark

    Studio Artist

    Cher Mark is a doll-maker and multi-media textile artist who has inhabited one of the Caetani artist studios for several years, where she makes and sells her weird and wonderful creations.

    Under her business label, Freaky Faeries, Cher ’s wondrous work can be found in the Caetani Centre Gift Shop and at local markets, including the Strange Bazaar that takes place on the Caetani grounds every year.

  • Cuyler Page

    Studio Artist

    Cuyler Page grew up in Ithaca, New York with Cornell University as his childhood playground. After studies in Architecture at Cornell, Cuyler became one of the first Apprentices of the famed futurist architect Paolo Soleri in the Arizona desert.

    In 1962, Cuyler travelled to Vancouver with an exhibit of Soleri’s work, and fell in love with the Canadian social and political environment. He returned to study music at the University of British Columbia, discovering there the beauties of performing Renaissance and Baroque music.

    Today, Cuyler continues to practice a combination of professional musical activity and the design of exhibits for museums and historic sites. 

    As curator of the beautiful Secwempemc Indigenous Museum in Kamloops, he is currently working to complete major renovations there and still finds time to work on his own sculptural designs and play bassoon with the Oko Baroquo ensemble.

  • Gabrielle Strong

    Studio Artist

    Gabrielle Strong (she/her) is a full-time studio artist and part-time art instructor at the Vernon Community Art Centre. A graduate of Emily Carr University, her practice is split between painting, ceramics and public art.

    Originally from Vancouver, Gabrielle originally came to Vernon as the first Caetani ceramic artist-in-residence in 2015, which ultimately led her to make the Okanagan her home permanently. Following her residency, she coordinated the Caetani AiR program, further solidifying her connection to the Centre. Her paintings are represented by Gallery Merrick, Ashdale Gallery and PXP Contemporary.

  • Cody Zatylny

    Resident Artist

    Cody Zatylny (they/them) is a wood-worker, found object sculptor and multi-media artist who has spent years learning through experience, observing and adapting through practices that tend to the power of community and creativity.

    They live and work at the Caetani Centre with their partner, jaz papadopoulos, upholding an emphasis on creating an inclusive community-oriented space for all.

    Originally from Treaty 7 territory, they acknowledge they currently reside on unceded syilx lands.
