The Caetani Centre is participating in the next First Friday Art Trail, happening Friday, Sept. 5 throughout Greater Vernon.
From 10 AM to 4 PM you can visit our newly revamped museum and gift shop to learn the Caetani story, see our collection of home movies, artifacts, fashions and art.
In addition, from noon to 4 PM, our current artist-in-residence Shirry Insole will have the Jüül Studio open.
Shirry is a semi-retired healthcare professional who returned to school a few years ago to pursue a degree in fine art. Her artistic practice explores themes of embodiment and subjective, phenomenological experience.
"A recent visit to the Caetani Centre inspired me, particularly the history of the Canadian Caetani family. I was especially moved by Sveva Caetani’s story and her 25 years of confinement within the property. My current residency at the Caetani House offers an opportunity to further investigate the relationship between space and embodied memory. Through my work, I hope to capture the felt presence of this unique environment and reflect on how it shapes personal and collective experiences."
Come say hello to Shirry and learn more about the fascinating Caetani story while exploring other art studios and spaces in the vicinity at First Friday
