Museum Workshop: Preserving Photographs

  • Caetani Centre 3401 Pleasant Valley Road Vernon, BC, V1T 4L4 Canada (map)

Bring one of your important family photographs that have been gathering dust for too long, and join Jel Lentz, The Caetani Centre's Artefact Collections Management Coordinator, to learn how to properly preserve and conserve your precious photographs to an archival standard.

This Workshop teaches you about common damages to photographs and heirloom belongings, as well as the best ways to protect against them. This information session is immediately followed by a “Hands-On” workshop, where you will create museum-quality artefact housing using the provided archival materials. You'll leave the workshop with the knowledge of how to properly store and care for your photographs, and with the photo you brought, archivally mounted and ready for display in a frame.

Tickets are $20 plus a $7.25 supplies fee, and is limited to 15 seats.

Ages 13 and Up.

No prior experience or knowledge necessary.

Please bring one photograph 8 by 10" or smaller with non-extensive damage. Minimal conservation will be offered on site, up to the discretion and time of the Workshop Presenter.

For any questions or concerns about your specific photograph, please email Jel at intern@caetani.org
