ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Destanne Norris, MFA, is a painter and educator whose practice is grounded in narrative, place and the transformative nature of creative inquiry. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Tasmania and has a longstanding relationship with the Caetani Cultural Centre, where she spent six years as a studio artist, contributed works to annual fundraising events, and participated as an Artist-in-Residence through both the Caetani Centre and the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. She has also led two sold-out Caetani paint nights in partnership with the Vernon Winter Carnival.
Over the past years, Destanne has guided more than 1,000 participants of varying ages and backgrounds in the creation of their own drawings and paintings. Her teaching philosophy centres on facilitating personal discovery through drawing and painting, fostering an environment where learners can explore their creativity with confidence, curiosity, and a sense of possibility. She is dedicated to supporting each individual’s artistic development, encouraging thoughtful exploration, technical growth, and the emergence of a distinct visual voice.
