Join us for Culture Days this September
The Caetani Centre is pleased to once again participate in Culture Days with free/by donation interactive events that celebrate arts, culture, and heritage.
This year’s Culture Days takes place from Sept. 19 to Oct. 12 and the Caetani Centre will kick off Culture Days at the Sundog Festival of Arts and Culture at Civic Memorial Park in Vernon, BC, Sept. 19 and 20. Visitors can learn about Caetani initiatives, events and programs at our Sundog booth.
The Caetani Centre will host four days of free self-guided tours at its heritage house museum from Tuesday Sept. 23 to Friday, Sept. 26 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Our Open House with Sveva Caetani will allow visitors to learn about our late benefactor, artist, mentor and teacher Sveva Ersilia Caetani di Sermoneta, and watch film footage of Sveva as she discusses her heralded Recapitulation painting series that is now on its way to Rome for it first major international exhibition at the MAXXI Museum of 21st Century Art.
The films will be reeled throughout the day in our gallery while visitors can come into the museum to see new displays of the Caetani collection, watch home movies, and engage with the fascinating Caetani story. Our gift shop with Caetani prints, cards, T-shirts, tote bags, books and other art will also be open.
The Caetani centre is also a hosting a special preview screening of the new documentary feature film, SVEVA CAETANI: Recapitulation - A Journey, by Heidi Thompson during Culture Days on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 7 to 8:30 PM.
The film brings to life Sveva Caetani’s extraordinary series of watercolour paintings, Recapitulation, created between 1978 and 1991. Drawing inspiration from Dante’s Divine Comedy, Sveva’s journey through suffering, resilience, and transcendence unfolds in a poetic blend of images, music, and narration.
Thompson, who was Sveva’s close friend and photographer for over a decade, weaves together the art, writings, and spirit of this remarkable Italian-Canadian artist. The result is a luminous meditation on creativity, transformation, and the human search for meaning.
Admission to the screening is by donation and RSVP registration is recommended. A short intermission will take place mid-way through the film. Refreshments will be available by donation.
