Young Canada Works offers summer jobs for enrolled students aged 16–30 to gain experience in heritage, arts, and culture. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or hold refugee status, be legally entitled to work in Canada, and be returning to school in the fall.

YCW JOB OPPORTUNITY: Community Engagement Assistant
Term: May 05 - August 22, 2026
Salary: $18.25 per hour
The Caetani Centre is seeking an intern eligible for the Young Canada Works program for a summer placement as a Community Engagement Assistant. This full-time position (35 hours per week) runs from May 05 to August 22, 2026 and is dependent on securing YCW funding.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Community Engagement Assistant will have excellent communication skills in graphic design and digital storytelling and online engagement skills in order to assist in marketing and promoting of all aspects of the Caetani programs and events. This will include assisting with social media strategies, reel and short-form video creation, website and YouTube updates, press releases, print materials, blog posts, and e-newsletters.
Other duties may include assistance with visitor admission and orientation, gift shop sales, volunteer and membership engagement, fundraising, public relations, and event set up and organization. General light duties for venue and garden maintenance may be required. The Community Engagement Assistant will receive guidance and mentorship in all aspects of the role.
ABOUT YOU: Ideally, you are studying in the fields of marketing, communications, tourism/hospitality, journalism, visual arts, graphic design, film-making, or have prior experience in a combination of the above. You should have an advanced level and understanding of English (oral, reading and writing) as well as experience with digital storytelling and engagement, short-form video creation and editing, and a variety of social media platforms. Customer service, retail sales, tourism/hospitality experience, and Serving It Right Certification (or ability and willingness to obtain it), are also beneficial to the position. Additional language competency in French or Italian would be beneficial but is not required. The candidate should possess a keen interest in arts, culture, heritage, and community engagement.

YCW JOB Opportunity: Museum Interpreter and Curatorial Assistant

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Museum Interpreter and Curatorial Assistant will be part of our interpretive team, guiding members of the public, special interest groups, and dignitaries through the museum while interpreting the story of the Caetani family in the context of world history and events, and presenting the Caetani collections, objects, and artwork. The successful candidate will assist in revising and developing exhibits and interpretive storytelling mediums for the public. They will have the opportunity to complete a curatorial interpretive project or exhibit in the form or media of their choice, with the assistance of staff.
Other duties may include assistance with visitor admission and orientation, gift shop sales, volunteer and membership engagement, fundraising, public relations, and event set up and organization. General light duties for venue and garden maintenance may be required. The Museum Interpreter and Curatorial Assistant will receive guidance and mentorship in all aspects of the role.
ABOUT YOU: Ideally, you are curious, creative, congenial, eager to learn, and willing to become an ambassador and storyteller (both in person and through our interpretive displays). You possess a keen interest in the arts, culture, local heritage and international history, and the educational role of museums and cultural institutions. You will have excellent communication skills, some experience in public speaking, strong writing and graphic design skills, an awareness of current cultural and social interests and issues, and a commitment to inclusive and respectful community engagement.
Candidates will be ideally studying in the field of museum studies, history, art history, visual arts, performing arts, interdisciplinary studies, archival studies, or a related discipline. An understanding of research methods, online resources, presentation technologies, digital media editing, and graphic design would be an asset. Customer service, retail sales, tourism/hospitality experience, and Serving It Right Certification (or ability and willingness to obtain it), are also beneficial to the position. Additional language competency in French or Italian would be beneficial but is not required. The candidate should possess a keen interest in arts, culture, heritage, and community engagement.
